Inside Out Fort Lauderdale – global mural project comes to Fort Lauderdale’s FATVillage
Launched October 5, 2013 at Art Fallout in Fort Lauderdale.
The Inside Out Project is a global art project that transforms messages of personal identity into powerful urban exhibitions. The project is a collaboration between the French artist JR and groups of people throughout the world who are looking to spark conversations and generate awareness through art. The project was revealed during JR’s 2011 TED Talk, which can be viewed online.
As part of the project, participants are challenged to use black and white portraits to discover, reveal and share the untold stories and images of people around the world. These digitally uploaded images are made into posters and exhibited in public locations in the co-creators’ communities. The exhibitions are documented, archived and viewable virtually. The Local Project
Through the use of portraits and brief biographical stories, Inside Out Fort Lauderdale will present a series of installments that examine the human experience. The first installment, Faces of Art, will explore the diverse talents of our local creative community. Local organizers will gather the images and stories of the talented individuals that contribute to our thriving local creative community. Inside Out Fort Lauderdale will document the process from beginning to end. We will utilize our social media streams to share the work and stories of local artists and to promote Fort Lauderdale’s vibrant arts culture.
